At the start of the year, our Haywards Heath employees set an ambitious target of raising £40,000 for our chosen charity, St Peter & St James Hospice, which provides care facilities to terminally ill patients in Sussex.

As a result of the collaborative efforts of employees – plus matched funding by the company – they not only reached their target, but exceeded it, raising a total of £50,000!

Fundraising activities throughout the past year have included the Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride, our charity abseil, Zumbathon, the Auction of Promises, plus cake sales, plant sales and many more events organised by hard working and enthusiastic employees.

Andy James, UK CEO, said: “We’re delighted to have exceeded our goal of £40,000. The hospice makes a real difference to the people that use its facilities and we hope the money raised will support them in continuing their great work in the years to come.”

In a ceremony that took place at St Peter & St James Hospice, the High Sheriff of East Sussex presented us with an award for outstanding fundraising activities and, on behalf of the Queen, expressed how valuable the company’s support is for the hospice.

Colin Burgess, Chief Executive of St Peter & St James Hospice, said: “I was delighted to welcome the High Sheriff, Juliet Smith, and 1ST CENTRAL to our hospice and to show them around the recently opened Beacon View Wellbeing Centre. The company has made a huge contribution to the fundraising of the hospice and it was great to give them our personal thanks for all the hard work.”
